WHEN I AM WITH YOU

This book was a personal project made by Michal Ronen. It grew up form a simple poem written by Michal and Amitay and it was only a few years after the poem was written that it was translated into a children's book. Although the book is targeted to young audience, it is written in a way that adults can relate to it as well. The book is about a special friendship between friends and the way each on of them empowers the other by being present in their life.
/ design process
There was a search for the best way to depict the friends and in what world they live in. We weren't sure whether their figures should be abstract or something more familiar. We went with a mouse and a badger to create a sense of familiarity and we used these two to create a nice contrast of size, physique and color. It was pretty clear that there was a journey that the friends had to go through. In the end of that journey the couple could find a resting place next to each other. We enjoyed the idea of the friends travelling in nature, as we enjoy these trips by ourselves.
